In the early morning hours, the bell at the church tolls again. The darkness from the preceding night seems barely diminished, as though the sun is late to dawn; as characters are drawn out of their homes—out of their slumber, or lack thereof—they will find their feet dragging in a particular location. Following the compulsion is easy, but even those that fight it will eventually end up at the same place: the Eden Grotto.

It might look a little different from usual, and it certainly feels different; once again, the air feels staticky-thick with magic, the whole area now made into a ritual ground, a veil surrounding it. The veil will also contain any residual splash damage that could hurt the audience, but characters will find themselves stuck at the outskirts, unable to approach further without their blood starting to boil. The overseers are already here as well, standing far off from the others and observing the proceedings separately. One of you will feel compelled to step safely forward.

For the rest, rituals require payment, and so the time for reckoning has come. Observe. Please inform your mods if your character attempts to leave execution once it begins.

[ well! he's here. that's the tag. he still does not look like he slept any, but that's kinda the new normal. ]

[ todomatsu is here, standing back and quietly emanating dull vibes of misery and anxiety without much of an expression. ]

[she's here as well. waiting, emotions a bit dull and reserved this morning.]

[ falling in to stand next to her and no further, he looks pale and miserable, but radiates a tired tension with her as they wait to see who passes through. ]

[ the flowers line the way to the grotto beautifully where the waterfall falls gently into the clear and pull beneath it. robin walks into the area without any hesitation, gait smooth and sure. scales decorate and climb up exposed skin, glimmering in the light reflected off the water.

she twirls a stun baton in her hand as she waits for the next person to step forward. she waits and watches like a predator about to strike. ]

Are you going to hesitate today?

[ her words are sharp, bloodthirst thrumming in her emotions. ]

[there's a little bit of relief when he doesn't step through the barrier, as she glances at him.]

Feeling the same as last night?

[he's here, tired and miserable just like he has been, watching quietly.]

[Lavi arrives at the grotto along with everyone else -- pulled along by the compulsion and also the separate, other need -- to see it get done, to watch with his eye how it ends. He keeps walking, realization slotting in as the compulsion doesn't stop -- a feeling like dread rising from him as he passes the barrier and enters the grotto.

He looks briefly at his hand, holding a fishing pole. A spark of annoyance flashes through him -- disbelief tempered by an 'of course'. And that's the last emotion he lets himself feel, walling up the rest as he looks back at Robin.

He doesn't say anything, simply shifts into a stance and then takes off -- running directly at her, pole held up to swing directly at her head.]

[ she's here, she's quiet, and vibes are tired and bad

then she sees who is up against robin. oh this bad ]

[cumulative]

[nevermind!! the bad vibes cocktail is also abruptly full of fear and worry when it's fucking lavi!]

[scrapdraught]

[There's a sharp inhale as Lavi shows up. The emotions were already bad and now they're worse.]

A fucking fishing pole, are you kidding me?

[undread]

[yeah. not great. she looks up, immediately worried.]

[scrapdraught]

[Glancing over and immediately reaching for her hand.]

[concoctive]

Yeah. Which I'll take. [ it didn't get worse. he shifts his weight and takes a deep, tense breath when lavi steps through with... ]

Oh, this is gonna be rough.

[ it's fucking lavi!

she'll come over here to offer her hand. ]

[drymonster]

[ moves over a little closer to her when lavi steps up, though his emotions don't change much. ]

[halved]

[the vibes are so rancid and they are not getting any better once she sees 1) who has been selected and 2) their fucking weapons.]

Why are the weapons always so useless...

[sonorant]

[ she laughs as he runs at her, and she twists, trying to dodge out of the way. she may have never been a fighter, but she is agile and can dodge a fishing pole. after all, all those years training to on a stage, to be in front of everyone— it had to be for something, right? her emotions surge into something more violent. ]

No hesitation? What a good little Bookman you are. How amusing. Doing yourself proud.

[ something catches her attention in the corner of her eye, and instead of facing lavi again, she sprints for it. ]

[holds her hand.]

[she's definitely very sad and worried.]

...He'll be alright.

[he just doesn't deserve this.]

[she's probably going to have to just take hold of his. he's not paying any attention to anyone around him, fully focused.]
