investigation
Suddenly, consciousness sinks its icy grip into you and yanks you into the realm of wakefulness.
Disoriented, you rise to your feet. Put one in front of the other. Who were you with last night? Are they all with you? Do they still take breath? You can’t tell. Not yet, at least. Instead, you stumble into the next area, and perhaps you’re not alone, but there is one thing that you are innately aware of: something is wrong. So very, very wrong.
The sky has a faint discoloration to it, and if you peer too closely, you might notice how the air seems to be thrumming, pulsing with magic. You can almost taste it—and if you aren’t careful, may choke on it. It’s best to focus on the task at hand in front of you first.

Welcome, Sacrifices, to your weekly investigation!
We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6PM EST and another set at 7PM EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8PM and 9PM EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial.
At 9PM EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s). If you have any questions at any time, please let the mods know by pinging us on Discord!

looks at dice maiden. she's going to try going after the Dark Fluttering Something in the midst of the chaos, but will she succeed? you tell me.]

the other fences also look broken though, like they were crashed through. further into the sheep field, erin might be able to make out some splotches of red that stand out against the ground
the depth is deep in the ground, but the lines are skinny and long like a pencil! that is what they are. asa can get that dark fluttering something but it's only after a cow headbutts her in the stomach i guess. what the fuck these rolls ]

Since Erin isn't currently experiencing how it feels to be ran over by sheep, she comes closer to the splotches of red. Blood, no doubt? Probably? Is there anything corpse-shaped on top of it? Is it like splatter or like something bleeding fell here?]

for the sake of time, i'll say she gets up after a moment while still clutching the thing. can she tell what it is, or is that a tomorrow thing?
once she's back on her feet, she will come closer to the animal pens. is there anything visible inside the cow field? how are the milk bucket, brush and bell looking, too? she will take a look at all three on her way to the cow field. brush clean? bucket empty? nothing hiding inside the bell?]

the cow begins to meander toward the vegetable field
for what erin is looking at: is it blood? there's little splotches of red. not enough to be body-shaped, but leading toward the feeding troughs.
she can tell what it is at first glance! it looks like a dark feather. for the rest of her search, the milk buckets are all knocked over and everything is in disarray, but the brush is clean and nothing is hidden inside the bell or the bucket. ]

he follows the cow back to the vegetable field. y'all said it wasn't okay, what does that mean? are the plants okay? our food... ]

while erin and iwatooshi head deeper into the other two fields, asa will continue walking further into the heifer field. does it appear to be all clear, aside from the broken fencing...? she's checking the ground, the broken fences, and whatever else might be inside this area that's not mentioned in the location description.]

in the troughs, there's plenty of hay for feed! but there's the smell of iron... huh. a few sheep that were too tired to go on a rampage seem to be lingering, snoozing away by the (checks francy's notes) jesus house

anyway sorry about the prints but he sees that shape and does a beeline. is it a body. is it blood. who or what is this! ]

[Erin winces. She doesn't approach the sheep that are snoozing by Lucas' house's turf, instead focusing into the through...and, slowly, she plunges her hands into the hay to move some of it, see if there's anything in here that needs to be found.
Were she aware Iwatooshi found what might be a body she wouldn't be any less nervous. There can be more than one corpse in existence at once!]

if there is nothing in the heifer area, she will move out and carefully walk around the fields just in case there is anything they might have missed? looking at the fencing surrounding the areas to check for anything that might be stuck/caught there, and checking between the vegetables and grass just in case there's anything buried in there. she is in pain.............]

when erin plunges her hands into the hay, her hands will brush against a foreign texture. is that burlap? it seems to be a bag. it's weighty. the bottom of it is red.
sweet asa has lost the fight with so many farm animals, she can take a break now. there is nothing else immediate to find. just lots of destruction, prints, and really moody animals
as for iwa,
it's a body. a recognizable body, laying on the ground on his back. though it can't be comfortable, without his usual hawaiian shirt and with blood pooling beneath him. his hands fold over his chest, but it doesn't obscure the way that he has deep gashes and the obvious carnage of his body.
