Week 6
execution

In the early morning hours, the bell at the church tolls again. The darkness from the preceding night seems barely diminished, as though the sun is late to dawn; as characters are drawn out of their homes—out of their slumber, or lack thereof—they will find their feet dragging in a particular location. Following the compulsion is easy, but even those that fight it will eventually end up at the same place: the Cathedral.
It might look a little different from usual, and it certainly feels different; once again, the air feels staticky-thick with magic, the whole area now made into a ritual ground, a veil surrounding it. The veil will also contain any residual splash damage that could hurt the audience, but characters will find themselves stuck at the outskirts, unable to approach further without their blood starting to boil. The overseers are already here as well, standing far off from the others and observing the proceedings separately. One of you will feel compelled to step safely forward.
For the rest, rituals require payment, and so the time for reckoning has come. Observe. Please inform your mods if your character attempts to leave execution once it begins.

she's holding in one arm, like a staff, a long golden rod with an ornate, sharp crucifix on the end of it.
but as she appears, she looks over the gathered audience, eyes glittering. she doesn't wait to see who else is in here with her; that doesn't matter.]
You've made a mistake. You ought to have sent the little girl. I will be leaving this place, and those of you who cheered for my demise will be the next to learn the power of my anger.
[with that, the dark shapes of her shoulders move, revealing shadowy, large wings. they appear, for a moment, and then she seems to vanish, flying into the darkness of the ceiling and rafters at the top of the cathedral, disappearing aside from the occasional glimmer of red from somewhere.]

so he prepared as much as he could, making sure to dress in his simplest and most comfortable clothes from home to make it easier to dash around, and give her nails less to latch onto. did a few stretches when he woke up this morning in the house they used to share and regretted how long it's been since he last went to the gym.
but there's only so much preparation one can do in this particular situation, and when he looks down at his hand to see a god damn plastic fork as his given weapon once he's stepped inside the barrier, he curses under his breath. ]
Are you fucking kidding me??
[ he shoves it in his pocket; he's not even going to bother with that. he looks around for an alternative while laudna is focused on the audience during her introductory dialogue, and grips onto the nearest candle holder instead.
...but by the time he turns around, she's already spreading her wings and disappearing. cool!!
he squints up into the dark rafters. ]
Hello?! That's not actually an exit, you know!
