Suddenly, consciousness sinks its icy grip into you and yanks you into the realm of wakefulness.
Disoriented, you rise to your feet. Put one in front of the other. Who were you with last night? Are they all with you? Do they still take breath? You can’t tell. Not yet, at least. Instead, you stumble into the next area, and perhaps you’re not alone, but there is one thing that you are innately aware of: something is wrong. So very, very wrong.
The sky has a faint discoloration to it, and if you peer too closely, you might notice how the air seems to be thrumming, pulsing with magic. You can almost taste it—and if you aren’t careful, may choke on it. It’s best to focus on the task at hand in front of you first.

Welcome, Sacrifices, to your weekly investigation!
We will be posting top-levels for searchable locations—one set at 6PM EST and another set at 7PM EST. Each location will contain evidence to find, though it's up to your efforts as to whether you find all of it. Please coordinate investigation groups on Discord, as we ask that group threads consist of no more than 2-3 characters. We will stop tagging each top-level two hours after it went up, i.e. at 8PM and 9PM EST, respectively. Don't worry if you don't find everything! Characters will get the chance to revisit locations tomorrow at trial.
At 9PM EST, an announcement will go up, confirming the victim(s). If you have any questions at any time, please let the mods know by pinging us on Discord!

RESULTS
After two hours, characters will find that their surroundings warp and ripple as a veil of magic closes in over each location, restoring it to normalcy. But the village itself is not normal; the crows squawk, the pyre flares and holds an eerie blue, and the church bell tolls. The stars shudder and fall from the sky until none are left, the moon snuffed out last. The monster presence in your mind goes between quiet and restless.
There are some new posters on the bulletin board.

The crows can be heard, but not reached. Overseers are not available on Friday. The posters cannot be removed, vandals only receive more paper cuts. All investigation locations are cloaked in a veil of swirling magic; while this veil can be passed through painlessly, characters will find that locations look completely restored to normal after doing so, and will not be able to further investigate. That includes looking for bodies!
Characters will need to be responsible for holding onto evidence until trial, though they will not be able to tamper with it. Please use the sub toplevel to turn in evidence, unless your character ICly would withhold evidence, in which case you do not have to. See you all at trial!
